Quartz
Quartz
is the second-most abundant and third-hardest natural material on Earth.
Engineered quartz countertops are made by combining dyes and polyester resins with at
least 93% natural quartz. Pioneered in the 1960's by Breton S.p.a. in
Italy, a number of companies have licensed the technology and produce their own
unique variations of natural quartz countertops.
Quantra, manufactured by the Pokarna Group, is a pure natural quartz surface with debonair appearance, the feel of the natural stone, but with an unbeatable quality and panache. Quantra is, non-porous, homogenous and highly durable and resistant to scratching, staining and water absorption and is virtually maintenance free.
* Quantra may not withstand the direct transfer of heat from pots and pans and other cooking units such as electric frying pans and griddles, and some crock-pots or roaster ovens and heat lamps. Therefore, the use of a hot pad or trivets is always recommended.
Genesee Cut Stone & Marble Co. now stocks and fabricates Quantra quartz surfaces.
